~Our first batch of soap~

Lavender Castile- A vegetable based soap, very mild in nature and infused with a very light lavender essential oil and ground oatmeal. A great body & bath soap.

Palm Oil Castile - This soap is family favorite. We use it as a shampoo bar as well as a bath bar. I've used shampoo and conditioner forever. I tried this as a shampoo and much to my surprise I did not need a conditioner. It leaves my hair smelling and feeling very clean.

Simply Castile - Only pure olive oil is used. This soap is the mildest, gentlest soap you will ever find. I use it on my children who are prone to breakouts from other soaps. My newborns are bathed with this soap. It is unscented with no additives.

We can not live without castile in the home...it is truly a homemakers best friend. See below for a sampling of recipes castile may be used for.

Rosemary Mist - Another gentle vegetable based soap that carrys natural antiseptic properties and produces a warm and uplifting scent.

Juniper, a.k.a. Junie, the goat came to our home May, 2009 as our second milk goat. She is a beautiful Saanan who keeps our family in more than enough fresh raw milk. We use her milk as food, make yogurt, cheeses and soap. The possibilities are endless. We love our goats! Junie kidded for the first time with us on April 9 and gave us triplets! What fun! We are yet again, back "in milk".

Recipes

Jennifer's Baby Wipes - Place 1/2 roll paper towels(cardboard center removed, use electric knife) in empty plastic coffee can.
Heat on stove until dissolved;

3 C water(or desired amount)
1/8 bar of castile soap shaved with potato peeler.
1/4 C Olive Oil
4 drops an scent of essential oil(we use tea tree)

Let cool, then pour over paper towels. Add more water if needed later. They will leave baby's bottom moisturized, soft & smelling fresh. The Tea Tree oil will have healing effects.

Squaw Creek's ShihTzu Shampoo
(or other sensitive small dogs ;)

2 C Water
1 oz(1/4 bar) castile soap shaved with potato peeler

1 T Honey

1 t glycerin *opt

4 drops orange essential oil

Stir water and soap together over low heat until dissolved. Remove from heat and add honey, glycerin & essential oil. Cool and place in a soap dispenser! Warning - Will create one rambunctious, clean smelling puppy that will rip snort through the house.
